Just Stories: The Christmas Special

Our chance to get it off our chest - before the family arrive on the 25th
November 26, 2023

In Manchester’s Northern Quarter, there’s an incredibly talented artist with quite a following, who regularly gives any of us who might want it – the opportunity to get up and tell a story, unburden ourselves (in a light-hearted way), or just listen to others while they do it!

Ilarria Passeri is a writer, performer and a captivating storyteller. She’s also one of the North West’s key new artistic ‘movers and shakers’ – and the creator and host of ‘Just Stories’, which regularly takes place at the iconic Gullivers on Oldham Street.

Gullivers is a superb space and a creative HQ for Manchester’s grassroots artistic communities; with masses of bands, artists, performers and promoters being given the space over the years to ‘cut their teeth’ within its walls.

By the 20th of December, there is a very real possibility that we might all be utterly fed-up with Fairytale of New York – and if we can’t locate Elf-On-A-Shelf for that highly-strung relative – there may just be a considerable risk of violence.

Step forward the antidote: The Just Stories Christmas Special heads to Gullivers with Ms Passeri (and Brian, her chicken) leading proceedings. And we should all be there because:

“Ilaria Passeri has excellent hair and tells even better stories”: Bent Key Publishing

“She’s like chocolate with chilli: sweet with a hint of 'what the fuck?'": Ilarria’s Mum

We can tell you’re now fully invested in this pre-Christmas night (that could go anywhere) – so get your tickets HERE. QUICK.

Just Stories from Ilarria Passeri

This weird and wonderful storytelling event is urging comedians, poets, actors, bus drivers, writers, builders and anything in-between…to come along and tell a story.

Ms Passeri explains: “Stories must be 10 mins max, or Brian the chicken will get involved.”

If listening is more your thing then grab a drink, get comfy and watch the madness unfold. You will go home knowing everyone’s secrets. Forget about stuffing turkey’s or involuntarily grinding your teeth when you hear East 17’s ‘Stay Another Day’ while you’re stuck at the back of a 1.25km queue in Primark.

Ilaria continues: “Expect laughs, hilarious stories, nostalgia and rubber chickens in this FREE storytelling event. It’s the Christmas special so there will be chocolate and a raffle!”

If you’d like to tell a story (but maybe not that one. Nobody wants to hear that particular disclosure), then email Ilaria – juststoriesmcr@gmail.com – and get yourself on the bill at one of NQ’s hottest events.
